Safeway is giving away 100 free air miles (again) for signing up for its online flyer. (I'm already signed up, you don't get stuff often) Just go to www.airmiles.ca/emaildirect and sign up for the letter and get 100 free air miles. (For those who haven't figured it out like I have, that's probably about $20 on your average flight, so it's a pretty good deal for the 5 minutes it takes)

So, Gibbo and some other friends are like "Are you coming to Vancouver tommorow?" and I'm like "Huh?" and they're like "ITG tournament" and I'm like "I really shouldn't".

So, I ended up going, and, though I'll say I got pretty lucky, I got 2nd. (Kaku got 1st and Way got 3rd, and I think Tony was 4th?) We all went out to supper at Uncle Willy's afterwards, which I must note, has an extensive selection of vegetarian alternatives. (You can tell just by the name) I made a bunch of bad puns, and Michele even assisted me in my terrible puns at one point. (Normally people don't encourage me like that.)

So, maybe sometime in the new year I'll organize a Victoria tournament, could be fun, for sure.

I was thinking recently of people who don't like to take responsibility for their actions (obvious from my last entry) and I was thinking about what's at the root of that. I think some people are afraid to have power, perhaps for lack of trust of themselves, or for fear that it will corrupt them, so, they give up or refuse to acknowledge the various ways in which they have power over what happens in the world, so they feel less responsibility for their actions. It seems complex at the very least, I'm sure there's more reason behind it than that.

But then, I was thinking of how so many people have the worst spending habits in the world, and somehow my brain made a correlation. Money is powerful, and so, maybe the way people act with money, and how so many people manage to somehow spend just as much as they make and barely get by all the time, is because people are afraid to become greedy, in other words, corrupted by the power of money. But yet...at the same time, this just leaves people who are already greedy to control the money that exists, and, often make probably much worse decisions about what should be done with it than the average person would if everyone took responsibility.

Maybe, then again I'm judging too much on limited circumstances, and specific types of people, but perhaps, nonetheless, this is an insight into how some people think...

I'm going to Newfoundland this January. Anyone got any contacts out there? I know at one point in time there was a decent DDR community but I haven't talked to any of those guys for a looong time. I'm going to be there a day early because of how air miles ended up booking me :( so I would like to find someone to hang out with if possible. Seems like a good idea, after going out that far and all.

I'm also going to have to pull the winter jacket out of retirement.

I actually got about 500 Air Miles on my last trip, if my calculations were correct. Picked up some more stuff from the coupon book I had, and another special I had originally missed out on that was for taco shells and salsa. I think I spent about $140 altogether.
